David Edgington is a pioneering fitness professional and the visionary behind Worldwide Deaf Gym (WDG), the UK’s first dedicated fitness organisation for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. A profoundly Deaf qualified personal trainer, David founded WDG to dismantle the communication barriers he personally faced during his early career in the fitness industry.

With over a decade of experience, David has transitioned from a local personal trainer to a global advocate for accessibility. Under his leadership, WDG has evolved into a powerhouse for inclusion—providing BSL-integrated fitness training, professional accreditation for gyms, and scholarship programmes to empower the next generation of Deaf fitness professionals. David’s mission is to bridge the gap between the hearing and Deaf worlds, ensuring that fitness is truly inclusive for the 450 million Deaf individuals worldwide.
